“フォール・アウト・ボーイ (Fall Out Boy) は、2001年に結成されたアメリカ合衆国イリノイ州シカゴの郊外ウィルメット出身4人組ロックバンド。
当初はバンド名が決まっていなかったが、2回目のライブの終わりにファンにバンド名を尋ねたところ、誰かが「フォール・アウト・ボーイ!」と叫んだためバンド名はそのまま“フォール・アウト・ボーイ”となった。それはアメリカのアニメ「ザ・シンプソンズ」の登場人物の子供達が夢中のマンガ「フォールアウト・ボーイ」(Fall out Boy)に由来する。ザ・シンプソンズの作者マット・グレイニングに訴えられると恐れていたそうであるが、名付け親もファンの１人だった。
2000年代にデビューしたエモ、ポップ・パンクバンドの中では、ナンバーワンと言って良いほどの圧倒的な人気を誇る。
2009年に無期限の活動休止を発表している。よく解散の噂が流れたが、解散ではなく、あくまでも活動休止の状態であるとのこと（2011年のインタビューで、パトリックは解散を否定）。
2013年、約4年振りにニューアルバム『Save Rock and Roll』（セーヴ・ロックンロール）とともに活動再開を発表した。”
